Couple of old homes with weird stuff going on

Part of the fun looking at homes in Wildwood is that there is a sketchy element to the town and you get to see some weird stuff. I've shown some pictures of empty houses that you can say have been trashed due to rentals. Those houses are eerie because as you walk through them, you try to figure out how people can live like that and also wonder how long they have been vacant. Then sometimes when you view houses you encounter people in the houses where you see some crazy stuff going on. For this round, there were 4 homes on the market that were interesting. 2 of the 4 ended up having wacky stuff in them.

The first house was an older home that was carved up into a triplex. As we arrived, something was off when the seller's agent who was supposed to meet us didn't show up. Instead we were greeted by the seller's sister who "was allowed to live upstairs". She showed us around the house. We started with the cottage in the rear which is a common Wildwood feature. Inside was a single mom who was sick. You always feel like a piece of shit viewing houses with this situation because you're intruding on someone's space and you feel like a potential slumlord who's going to kick the mom and kid out on the street if you decide to buy the place. So after a quick look we get out of the cottage. For the main house, we get the warning that the tenants are angry. They're being evicted, so they're pissed. Luckily they're not around - apparently they've been gone all week. As we're walking up, we see a sad cat looking at us from the 2nd floor. If they've been gone all week, who's taking care of the cat?

The house was left with all the electronics running - lights, TV, fans, etc. I guess they're trying to run up the electric to punish the owners. The place is trashed with bongs everywhere, open cans of peaches in syrup on the kitchen counter, and sounds of a cat yowling from a locked 2nd story bedroom. We ended up releasing the cat who's glad to see a human and get out of there. The house was nothing special with shoddy construction and vinyl siding so scratch that off the list.

The 2nd house was a similar situation with an older main house and newer cottage in the backyard. We knocked on the main house and no one answered so we use the keys to get in. I have an uneasy feeling - like we're not alone! As we start looking, the house is promising, with a nice staircase and old feel, but as soon as we hit the kitchen we have to bail out due to a swarm of flies in the kitchen. Someone left food out and it's too disgusting to walk through.

Messy kitchen.

Off the living room is a locked door, so we give a knock and then our realtor uses the keys to open the door. As soon as we open the door, we're greeted by a naked man standing there - so we immediately shut the door. He opens the door (still naked) and apologizes. I run up the stairs and as I make my way up, I'm greeted by more naked men in the upstairs apartments. I give up the house tour and we quickly bail out and cut our losses.

Nothing in this batch to follow up on so more waiting till something comes on the market.
