Pink calcimine removal
With all of the latex paint off, it’s now time to scrub off the calcimine. I start with a mix of TSP and dish soap and start scrubbing. There’s a lot of joint compound over all of the cracks in the wall so I also scrape that off as it softens from the soap and water. The joint compound fixes are not a solid fix because they don’t address the crack if it’s moving. My fixes will involve using adhesive and plaster washers to reattach the plaster to the lath and secure it so cracks shouldn’t reappear.
Nothing unusual with the calcimine removal. At this point it’s just elbow grease and repeated washing and rinsing of the wall to remove old paint. When you can rub your finger against the lime plaster and it comes back clean, then you’re done.
