Finished the ceiling

Karen comes back down for another week of work and to finish off hanging the ceiling planks. For this batch we have more complicated measuring to work around a hatch and also a chimney. After we get some longer screws for the light fixture and get that installed, we make our way around the rest of the room by measuring out the gaps needed. Things fall into place pretty well and next up will be to have the floors refinished.

Leaving holes for the HVAC vent and access hatch.

With most of the bedroom tasks done, we mix up a batch of paint for the shiplap. I decided to go with linseed oil paint and bought a deep shade of blue. On the samples it seemed like the 25% blue was in the ballpark so we start by dumping the white paint into the can and slowly adding blue. We get to around 18% blue and that shade seems good. After we have the tint set, we then cut the mixture with linseed oil. Earth and Flax said to get a more matte finish to do a 50-50 blend with linseed oil.

Next visit I’ll apply the linseed oil paint on all of the shiplap.
