Door issues and scrubbing plaster

To start the weekend off I try and hang the built-in doors. I had one hung, but needed to adjust some of the placement of the hinges for the 2nd door. I get it to fit in and am able to hang it, but when I try to shut the door, the hinges bind and I’m unable to shut the door. It looks like I’ll need to shim the hinges to get the doors to sit correctly since I ended up changing things by expoxing the wood to build up some of the rot and also changing hinges. I give up on this and will come back to it later.

I continue doing some wood stripping on the doors and hardware from the bedroom. The door I coat 1 side in more CitriStrip and am able to get pretty much all of the white paint off 1 side. One negative I’ve noticed is that I’m seeing blotching on the door as I apply the CitriStrip. I look online and people are saying it’s from a formula change to CitriStrip to make it more environmentally friendly. A potential solution is to apply Bar Keepers Friend. I’ll give that a shot after I strip the 2nd side of the door.

After the door I start applying some boiled linseed oil to the door knob to get them looking more refreshed since they are stripped, but really dry looking. I start with a 50-50 turpentine/BLO mix and then move to a full BLO coat.

Outside of the wood, the rest is continuing scrubbing the paint and calcimine from the bedroom plaster. I think I get pretty much all of the blue calcimine off. There’s one area above the door that is very tight that will need another pass and also a rough spot near a drywall repair where a pipe went into the chimney that needs more scraping, but for the most part all of the paint is off.

Next week I’ll do 1 more overall soapy wash down and then do a rinse coat of clean water.

Cleaned wall. The blue is not really paint, but residue over some drywall patches. I may remove these fixes and just go with pure plaster.
